The one thing that never changes is that things are ALWAYS changing. The sooner we become comfortable with the ability to manage change, we move in to a better way of handling life.
In the book, Becoming the Obvious Choice, the authors suggest that the best time to change is when things are going well. This is the time when it is easier to make change happen.
Most people will say, “If things are going well, why would you want to change it.” and I believe that when you change while things going well, you will set yourself up for when things do happen to take a downturn and change becomes a little more difficult.
Also with regards to change, we are always looking for results, better results. And the only way to get different results is by doing things in a different way, which requires different action.
I’ve always like the definition of insanity being doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.
Here are some questions to consider about change:
1. Do you look at change as a positive event? There are some great opportunities that come with change and these will be determined by your attitude about change?
2. When things are going well do you look for ways to improve what you are doing? When change has to happen due to downturn in business or other outside circumstances, change can be very difficult. The best time to change is when things are going well.
3. How willing are you to leave your comfort zone? Remember that to see different results, different action is REQUIRED. It’s not optional. Different actions are a must to get to different improved results.
As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,
John Clark
