Review & Revise your Goals

Goal setting is not a once of event! It is not a set and forget exercise that you do at the

beginning of the year and then fail to look at for the rest of the year. Goal setting is a way of life. It is an ongoing daily, weekly, and monthly process, which requires skill and discipline. To get the best out of goal setting you need to review and revise your goals on a regular basis. At the beginning of each month it is advisable to review all of your goals. At this time you can review any goals that no longer have relevance or that may have changed. You can add new goals to your list, and measure and track progress of those goals you are working on.

When doing your monthly review spend time considering which of your goals you can focus on in the coming month. Set yourself targets to be achieved for the coming month for all your important goals.

Each week I review my current goals and decide what actions I am going to take in the coming week. I then transfer these action steps into my calendar allocated into the appropriate days.

For example, for my health goal I may decide I need to exercise on four different days so I allocate these times into my calendar in advance. By allocating your action steps into your calendar in advance you are giving yourself every chance for success. It takes all of the guesswork out of what you need to do to move forward on your goals.

I’m a great believer in daily review of your goals. There are many different ways you can do this. The first way is through the use of dream boards and visual maps. The idea is that you get images of your goals and put them everywhere. In this way you are constantly reviewing your goals.

Another excellent method of daily goal review is through the use of affirmation cards. Write yourself a series of affirmation cards that affirm the goals you are going for. By reading these affirmation cards daily and looking at your goal images you will begin to program them into your subconscious mind at a deeper level.

Regular review and revision of your goals is a vital key to your success. It is important that you develop a routine and a system for yourself that you can follow and stick to. You will find that your ability to achieve your goals will go up in direct proportion to the amount of review and revision you do off your goals.

Every day ask yourself this question … ‘What can I do today to take one step closer to each of my goals?’
