The Road Trip of Life Part 6

I tell you… it is amazing, I have been going to church the last month or so and the messages that I have been blessed to hear have got me all worked up. My pastor is doing a series called: Road Trip – The Road we take and it has really given me a little different look at things lately. This weeks message was very powerful. Over the next few days, I will do my best to communicate the message the best I can.

This week we will be looking at obstacles that may get in the way of our road trip in life.

First, if you haven’t read or missed any of the other post in this series, you can check them out below:

Part 5 – http://www.lifetosuccess.com/2010/09/26/the-road-trip-of-life-part-5/

Let’s start with this quote from the Bible:

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. Proverbs 22:3

Let’s take a look at the word “prudent” according to the dictionary the word “prudent” means “acting with or showing care and thought for the future”.

With that in mind and keeping to the road trip theme what would be the natural and normal thing to do if we looked down the road and seen trouble coming down the road?

I think the answer to that would be to pull over to the side and let it pass or to change the course. How does this thinking effect us in our own lives?

Well let’s take a look at it from the stand point of our health, what if we went to the doctor’s and the doctor told us that we need to start taking better care of ourselves. The road we are currently on with regards to our health will lead us to a possible heart attack or even worse… death!

According to the quote from Proverbs, if we are the prudent person, we will hide ourselves from this danger by changing our direction because if we live like the simple and pass on we will be punished by our decision to stay on that path.

I don’t think it get any simpler than that.

This applies to all the important areas in our life. Our relationships, Our finances, Our careers and Our Spiritual lives.

Why is it that we would continue down the wrong path or “deny” that anything could possibly happen to us if we continue down that road?

We just don’t “end up” in trouble with regards to the things that are important in our lives. We end up in trouble because of the habitual way we think and the habitual actions that we engage in.

We have to pay attention to the signs. We have to be able to look ahead and see where our current level of thinking and acting are taking us but not only that… we need to have the wisdom and the courage to make the necessary course corrections to avoid those trouble situations. We need to make sure we get off the wrong road and onto the right road.

Over the next week, we will be looking at the sources of trouble that we encounter on our road trip and ways to avoid getting on the “wrong” road and ways to stay on the “right” road.

As Always, Here’s to your LifetoSuccess,

John Clark
