It’s very easy to get distracted with all the unrest going on in the world. But the question remains… Are You Happy?
And if not, why?
Where does your happiness come from? Are you relying on things outside of you to change in order to be happy or are you looking to yourself and or God for your happiness?
I suggest that if you are looking for things outside of you to change, you will be unhappy for most if not all of your life and that even goes for the people in your life that you think should have an interest in your happiness. Here is the problem with relying on things outside of yourself to change for your happiness, you give up to much power to those sources. And quite frankly if they have control to make you happy, they can pull the rug out from under you at anytime. That is way to much control as far as I am concerned.
What is it that makes you happy?
Earl Nightingale had a great definition for success and it went like this, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.”
I would suggest that you could also make that the definition of happiness…
“Happiness is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.”
This should certainly make it universal to just about everyone.
A couple of words to consider with that definition.
1. Progressive Realization – making forward progress bringing something into your reality. This also means that you need to make changes in what you think and how you act in order to make this happen. If you are not paying a price for the things you want, chances are very good that you will not get there and if you do somehow get there you may not have it too long. 2. Worthy Goal or Ideal – So what is a WORTHY goal or ideal, I suggest that it is something that helps others or something that provides value to others. When we focus our attention to helping others, I believe that miracles happen that allow us to get things that we desire. The key is putting others first. This is also a Biblical principle.
When we start to work on goals that help others, we will generally find ourselves happier.
So start today, instead of waiting for things to change on the outside, start to make those changes on the inside, start helping others and become happy today!

I agree with you that when we focus our attention on helping others, miracles will
happen. Being self-centered will only lead to defeat. When we see the value and gifts of others it will create something extremely powerful. Thanks for this article to remind us all to put
others first.
