I wrote a pretty down in the mouth post yesterday about the stock market drop that happened on Thursday, if you haven’t had a chance to read it, please make sure to check it out, http://www.lifetosuccess.com/2011/08/05/does-the-stock-market-plunge-give-you-cause-for-concern/
I had a close friend of mine yesterday, say to me, “Wow, that was a pretty depressing post you put up yesterday.”
I said to him, “Yeah, pretty much but with the uncertainty in this world right now, we need to look at this stuff as a real “possibility” that we could wake up to within the next year or so.”
He went on to say, “But John, everything works in cycles, we just happen to be in a down cycle.”
I guess that could be true but things have changed.
Think about it for a second, how many people in your circle of friends and family have enough food and money that they could survive for a month with out any income. How about three months? If you think about some people, how about a week.
How many people do you know that have been in a position where they have had no food and have no idea where they are going to get their next meal. If this is being read in the US, my guess is… not many.
How many people can remember the long lines going into the gas stations back in the late 70’s? I happen to have been a child at the time and remember it only from the back seat but I didn’t feel the pressure that my mom and dad may have been experiencing at that time.
Think about life for a second…
We have our demanding jobs that are getting harder and harder as the economy gets worse. Our bosses want more out of us and their bosses want more from them and the cycle just continues to perpetuate.
We have our children with their demanding schedules with school, sports, Dr.’s appointments, all this while trying to keep clothes on their backs, food in their stomachs and a roof over their head.
Think about how busy you are….
Now think about waking up tomorrow, going into work and finding out that you are getting downsized so that the company can continue to operate. You apply for unemployment but the government isn’t collecting enough tax income because more and more people are losing their jobs. So you are without a check to help you keep your family going.
Think about the possibilities…
What are you doing to become prepared?
Tomorrow I will have a list of things to consider and some steps to take that will help us get over some of the worse case personalities.
It’s time to start getting prepared for the worse case scenario.
As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,
God Bless You,
