How do you know if you are making the best use of your time?

I often hear a lot of people say that there is no time to get everything they want done. And I am often asked how to get over this issue.

Now when I observe some people I see a lot of wasted time. And I often get push back when I bring this to their attention.

But this is the all important question that I ask them…

Is that activity that you just spent one hour doing moving towards your goal or objective?

Most of the time the answer is… no!

Then they start in with excuses like…

Well you can’t be working all the time?

or

You need to take a break every now and again.

or

You need to do something for yourself.

And the list goes on and on. But this is all coming from someone who claims that there isn’t enough time.

The key to getting this down is by first making a decision about what you want to accomplish. Once you make that decision your activities should come in line with that desire.

So to get back to the question in the title of this blog…

How do you know if you are making the best use of your time?

The answer is quite simple. If you are moving towards your major goal or objective you are making the best use of your time.

If you are not moving towards your major goal or objective then you are making poor use of your time.

Now you may say to yourself, “But John, I have a family.”

So do I. The key here is to have a desire for each area of your life and work with them in balance.

Areas in your life can include:

Your Family

Your Career or work

Your Fitness Level

Your Social Network

You need to be focusing on your major goal in each area in balance.

As always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

John Clark
