Is the Message You Receive a Consistent Message?

I wrote a blog post a while back about “The Measuring Stick”, this is the way to look at our lives with a way of measuring what we are doing that DOES NOT CHANGE.

For most of us, our lives are up and down and all over the place. The reason why this happens is because of the inconsistency of the messages we allow in our minds all the time.

This is an area of discipline that if developed will create a more even flow of good things happening in our lives.

Remember, the only thing that we have control over is our thoughts and our actions.

With this in mind, the one thing that we have to take control over is the messages that we allow to get into our minds.

We are bombarded with messages from all over the place everyday: TV, radio, internet, your friends, family and co-workers. The list is endless.

We have messages that show us how we can lose 30 pounds in 30 days.

We have messages that show us how we can make $10,000 a week.

We have messages that show us that by our actions and what we consume are ruining the planet.

When you break it down, everyone and everything is after our attention and what we have in our wallets.

With all the messages that are around us, it is really hard to stay focused on anything.

I want you to understand me, I am not saying that every message is bad or that some messages should be banned or anything like that. I am simply saying that this is just the way it is.

And I believe that God created it this way on purpose.

In my walk with God, I have read that it is key to stay in the message DAILY.

Why is that?

Well if you think about, if you get away from the message too long, you will start to wander off the path. So my daily reading causes me to stay as close to the path as possible. It is an exercise that strengthens the spiritual muscle. The more I work that spiritual muscle, the stronger it gets and my actions stay more consistent with the message.

I treat others with greater respect, which strengthens the relationship that I have with more people.

I look at others in a more loving manner and strangers respond more positively to me.

It is the same when I exercise my physical body.

I have developed the habit of going to the gym, I go between 4 – 6 times a week for about 60 – 90 minutes each time. As my physical strength increases so does my resolve to eat better foods.

This does not mean that I don’t splurge on what I eat on occasion but the habit of going to the gym quickly brings my eating back in line.

BUT….

If I were to stop reading my Bible or going to the gym, it wouldn’t be long before I found myself back to being fat, unhealthy and not in good relationships with those around me.

The key is to keep the message consistent.

Keeping the message consistent on a daily basis, this is the only way to keep yourself focused on the thoughts and actions that bring the positive results you are looking for in your life.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

God Bless You,

John Clark
