One of the major keys to staying motivated is to make sure that you are constantly working on things that you have complete control over, and all these things fall under your circle of influence.
Working within your circle of influence requires you to work on only two things:
1. What you think
and
2. What you do
These are the only two things that you have control over. When you come to realize this, you have truly set yourself free to accomplish whatever you want or desire.
This is a habitual way of thinking about your life.
The problem arises when we look for things outside of our circle of influence to change in order for us to be happy or to accomplish anything. This is when we relinquish power and become weaker as human beings.
Here are some of the thinking patterns that occur when the focus is on things outside of our circle of influence:
If only the government would…
If the unemployment rate was only better…
If our company would do this…
If only my wife/husband would…
Our job as responsible human beings is to fashion our lives around our desires while profitably and positively serving others. And in that order.
We start with our desire and then work out a plan to positively serve others in order to get what we truly desire.
Problems arise when we violate that pattern.
What are you going to work on today that involves you only working on things that you have control over.
I really hope you have had a chance to check out Lee Milteer’s Habit Busting System, this is a program that will help you change some of the thinking habits and actions habits that may be holding you back in this area. It has worked wonders for me.
