As we make our way down the path to success, we are often faced with roadblocks that cause us to question ourselves and our abilities to get things done.
I don’t know about you but this has happened to me many, many times…
I have lost hope on several occasions.
But there is one truth that I can never avoid and that is that I am responsible for both my success and failure.
And when I do find myself in a pattern of failure I can always trace it back to a flaw in my thinking or a habit that has had control over me without me knowing about it.
It doesn’t matter what area of my life this is happening in:
1. Relationships
2. Financial
3. Career
4. Spiritual
No matter what the area of concern is, it is my thinking or a habit pattern that causes both the success and the failure.
These are the patterns that you have to pay attention to get past the roadblocks. Once you uncover a habit pattern that has been causing you failure, you can eliminate it forever.
Here are some tips to uncovering some habits that may be causing you some trouble:
1. Pay attention to your thinking – you need to start listening to what you are saying to yourself. This takes a lot of effort and it takes a lot of patience. You are talking to yourself all the time. You are assessing things that happening around you and making judgements. The key here is to find patterns in your thinking that may be causing a problem in your life.
2. Pay attention to the seasons in your life – Are there certain times in the year that your weight may go up? Do you seem to have better financial success in one part of the year but your job is steady? (Meaning your job is not seasonal) Do you relate to people a little differently during certain times of the year? Again the key here is to find patterns. Can you change the set up going into that time of the year that will help you not gain so much weight?
3. Enlist the help of someone who is very close to you to help you find patterns in your life that do not serve you – You need to be very open with this person and never make them pay a bad price for helping you. Some people are very sensitive to criticism, even if they ask for it. You need to have the ability to be honest with yourself when you have someone help you with this.
Paying attention to your thinking and the patterns in your life that do not serve you can be a little time consuming but if you want to have any true success, you need to pay this price especially when you see the patterns that repeat themselves.

Great post, I have often called it the ability to take responsibility for my actions. I too very often or should I say every single time am able to trace failures in my life back to some thought or action I did or did not take in my past. I don’t look at it as not letting go of the past but finding out what caused the problem so I can let go and never do it again. I find the ones I don’t figure out keep repeating themselves in my life.
Just today I thought about certain things happening in my life at certain times and that it was time to start paying attention to these period but I love the idea of “seasons” that you mentioned. I am going to add that to my meditation this week or should I say reflection this week, because I want to nail down these issues, good or bad, when they occur and how to either avoid or recreate the circumstances in my life.
Thanks again and I will pass on this information…
