Success Patterns and Failure Patterns

When you are focusing on creating your life filled with success, you will often find that things pop up that seem to be sabotaging your efforts.

This is a very important time to be aware of these things… especially if they seem to be things that keep happening over and over again.

I like to use a little analogy of a man that goes to restaurants and every restaurant he goes to, he has a horrible meal. Now I’m talking about 10 – 12 restaurants in a row. Now these restaurants have full tables every night!

Does the problem lie with the restaurants or the man going to the restaurants?

Now this same scenarios can apply with jobs, relationships and financial situations.

These patterns for success and failure are all about our habitual way of thinking and acting. We have to pay very close attention to these habits and patterns.

So what do we do when we have identified a pattern or habit that seems to be sabotaging our progress:

1. Look at the when the challenge happens – Does it seem to happen the same time every year, month, or day? Does it happen when you are confronted with a particular situation. This is important!

Now how long has this pattern been repeating itself? How many years, months, weeks or days?

2. What are thinking or feeling when this challenge arises? – This is where you need to look at the thinking or actions that you are taking that are causing this to happen. You may find that something that has happened during your childhood that seems to be causing this pattern to repeat itself. (Now be careful here, it is very easy to let this become a crutch. You need to accept full responsibility, for the results you are getting now. So it is up to you to take responsibility to change these patterns in your life.)

3. What “NEW” Thinking and Actions are you going to start taking to replace the “OLD” problem thinking and actions that create your problem patterns – Once you have identified the actions and thinking that create the problem patterns you need to create, “new and improved” actions and thinking that will eliminate the old patterns from coming back in your life.
