Let’s take a look at some of the areas that we need to be truthful in our lives.
We were just laid off and now we have to collect unemployment that is not as much as what we were making.
The TRUTH: Our current skills were not what the company needed for them to survive in this tough economy. We became complacent with where we were and we didn’t feel that we had to continue to improve so we didn’t continue to improve our skills or look for ways that we could have been more valuable for our company.
We are 40 pounds over weight and no matter how many of the TV weight loss programs that we try, we just can not lose the weight. It must be hereditary.
The TRUTH: When we eat less calories then what our body needs for basic living, we will lose weight. When we add physical activity to our daily routines along with eating less then our bodies need, we will lose weight a little quicker.
The TRUTH: Is that we have a hard time controlling our intake of food and we have a hard time forcing ourselves to do the physical activity that we know we should be doing.
We have a stack of bills that just seems to be piling up and for some reason it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. We know that we should be saving for retirement but we can’t get the money in that account because of our bills.
If we had more money, we would have a better plan.
The TRUTH: We do not have a plan for our finances and lack the discipline to say “NO” to our kids or even worse… ourselves!
The TRUTH: If we had a better plan, we would have more money.
The TRUTH is that our problems are not going to magically disappear.
The only way for us to move past these issues in our lives to:
1. Realize that we are not perfect. There is nothing that we can do to make ourselves perfect. There was only one perfect person on this planet and that was Jesus Christ.
Our jobs is to accept this fact. We are sinners by nature. When we realize this, then we need help to live successfully everyday.
2. There is only one Savior who can help us with this and that is Jesus, the only perfect person who lived on this earth. He lived a perfect life and was the ultimate sacrifice for us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Now for us to have eternal life, we need to believe and accept Jesus Christ in our hearts.
3. Once we accept this we need to change our lives. We need to live our lives by the example that Jesus set forth for us.
“He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10:39
This means that we have to turn our backs on our old way of living to experience a new way of living.
We need to manage our finances in a different way to get different results.
We need to change the way we eat and our physical activity in order to get in better physical shape.
We need to treat people differently in order for our relationships to improve.
In order for things to positively change in our lives, we need to make the positive change in our lives that we seek.
4. We need to ask for God’s help… everyday! By connecting with God everyday and asking for the strength to keep us focused on doing the right things, we will end up with a snow ball effect in our lives that will be positive.
This doesn’t mean that we will never have setbacks or upsetting situations in our lives but those are the times that we need to step back and try to find out what we may have done in our lives that created those situations in our lives. And if they are situations that happen to us over and over again, then we need to change what we are doing on our lives to stop that cycle.
