The Greatest Personal Quality to Possess…

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

I had the great pleasure to be sitting in my church this weekend and listened to a very powerful message from my pastor. The verses that he was speacking about this weekend were 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, which are all about love and the ultimate definition of love.

Over the next few post I am going to break down each verse, the only way that I can describe these verses is like eating rich cheese cake, each bite is so rich and full.

Let’s take a look at the first verse.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

Take a look at this verse. If you could speak every man made language and every language that is alien to us, even the language of the angels. If the words are spoken without love, all it is, is noise, like sounding brass and a clanging symbol. Not a good noise but like a whaling noise, the most annoying noise you can think of.

Think about that, even if you could speak every language that was ever spoken, you could communicate with anyone or anything that ever lived or ever will live, but speaking the words without LOVE is like the most annoying noise that can ever be made.

But when you can communicate these words mixed completely with LOVE you can change hearts. You can change minds, you can get people to listen and take positive action.

If speaking words without love is like making the most annoying sound you’d ever heard, then speaking words with LOVE must mean that it is like the most beautiful song ever written or that will ever be written.

How are we communicating? Are our words filled with LOVE or are they just noise? Are we positively effecting people with our LOVE filled words or are we just like an annoying bug that keeps flying in someones ear?

I am going to end each of these post with the beginning of 1 Corinthians 13:8, “LOVE NEVER FAILS.”

How would our lives change if we started all of our communications with love? All of our communications! Our communications with God, our communications with ourself, our communications with our families, friends, co-workers or people we do business with?

I would suggest that our lives would take a huge turn for the better if all of our communications were filled with love.
