The One WHY that is Required For Our Success in 2011…

With 10 days into the new year, I’m sure that we are taking a look at the resolutions that we have set for ourselves, and wondering why?

Think about it for a second, we all want to be fit and trim, if not, our TV’s would lose at least half of their advertising dollars.

We all want to successful at our jobs, make lots of money and become rich, if not the TV networks would lose the other half of their advertising revenues.

When you walk around your local bookstore, one of the biggest sections in that store is the self help, self improvement, and business success sections, loaded with books that have all the tricks, tips and techniques that will make us successful in these areas.

One of the biggest exercises when it comes to goal setting is when we have to write all the reasons WHY, we want to reach that goal. The thought behind this exercise is that the more and stronger reasons we have wanting to achieve this goal, the better our chances are of reaching our goals.

BUT….

There is one reason that most of us do not include in our list of WHY’s that if we honestly add this WHY to our list of WHY’s and make it the top of our list, IT will just about guarantee our success in reaching any goal that we set for ourselves.

That one WHY is….

For God’s Glory!!!

When we start to add this to our list of WHY’s, our focus changes immediately and we enlist the help of the one person who can guarantee our reaching any goal that He feels is the right goal for us to reach.

If we do this and we are struggling to reach this goal and our faithfulness is to God’s glory, we may be working on the wrong goal for ourselves in this area of our life.

It’s funny, when we are challenged with anything in our lives, there is always one question that we ask of God and to those around us and that question is… WHY?

It is probably one the the most powerful questions that can be asked.

The answer to that question is answered. All we have to do is research it and study it and learn it.

Here are three great resources to research the WHY’s for the challenges, we face in our lives:

1. Pastor Kevin Whitacre – He is the pastor at my church. I have been going to Lifepoint Church in Chicopee, MA since last September. His weekly sermons have challenged some of the thoughts that I have held for many years and I feel that I am growing by this challenge. If you get a chance, make sure to subscribe to the podcast.

2. Pastor Greg Laurie – He is the pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA. He  has a daily podcast and radio show called A New Beginning. This is a great message to daily re-inforce the reasons why we are here.

3. Pastor Alistair Begg – He is the pastor at Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, OH. He has a daily podcast and radio show called Truth for Life. He has a very detailed way of explaining the word of God and as I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, his Scottish accent speaks personally to me.

It is very important to have people in your lives with messages that challenge your thinking. And the fact that these men challenge my thinking with the word of God, makes an even greater impact on my life.

Make sure to check out these valuable resources. The great thing is, all you need is an internet connection and if you are reading this message, then that is already covered.

If you don’t connect with the resources that I have listed above make sure that you get a resource that does teach the word of God, here are a few names to consider, David Jeremiah, Joel Osteen, or Rick Warren.

No matter who you decide to listen to make sure that it is a message that challenges your thinking and your WHY’S. If it is a message that does not challenge YOU, then you need to find a voice that does challenge YOU.

It is very easy to get into the RUT of listening to these messages and having the faces of everyone you think should be listening to this message but that does not challenge YOU or help you grow.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

God Bless You,

John Clark
