“If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you.Whatever good things we build end up building us.” – Jim Rohn
Although his recent passing was very sad for me, Jim Rohn still lives very strongly in my heart and my mind and he was a strong proponent of taking action. One of my favorite quotes by Jim is “Affirmation without action is delusion.”
When we sit down and take the time to write out our goals, it is extremely important to build a very clear mental picture of that goal that we should refer to on a constant basis. But even more important is the action we take towards achieving that goal.
Without action we will never move towards our goals and our goals will never move towards us.
When we take action towards our goals, resources that were hidden from us soon become available to us. But this does not happen unless we are making forward progress towards our goals.
Think about this for a second…
We have recorded history of our human race living in caves, making cave drawings of a hunt or some other event that has happened.
Fast forward to now, we can jump on an airplane and travel across the ocean and back in the same day.
The question we have to ask is…
What is different from then to now?
Were the resources that we use now to make planes and get airborne available back then?
The answer to the first question is: Our ability to think has changed dramatically. We tend to accept things as they are without taking our thinking to another level. We do not use our imagination to see things as we want to see them. And from there we tend not to take action towards them. Only with action will we be presented with the resources necessary to make it happen.
The answer for the second question is: YES! But the resources were only made available to us when our thinking change to make them a reality.
These principles work in our lives as well.
We just have to engage it with ACTION!
