The other day I wrote a post the other with some ideas why I thought high gas prices was a good thing, and I got plenty of feedback both negative and positive. Check it out here!
As I expected there was a lot of negative feedback and as I examined this feedback, I found most of it came from people who had a very scarce view of things. They were not tied into the abundance that is flowing around us constantly.
But there is more to it than that…
When we are faced with adversity, it is very easy to look outside of us and start to blame our short comings on outside circumstances.
It is a form of irresponsibility!
It’s a form of taking yourself off the hook!
Once you come to the realization that you ARE the master of your own destiny, all these outside influences start to lose their power over you and you start to take control of your own life and happiness.
On top of that it also causes us to use our ingenuity to create different and more efficient ways of living. This has happened over and over again since recorded history. Einstein said, “We can not solve today’s problems, with today’s thinking.”
We have to push ourselves to think differently about the way we operate in this world. Don’t confuse this with making others change the way they think. You are not responsible for them. You can only control how you think, and provide an example for others to live by.
One of the new ingenious, things I have seen since the gas prices went up is Zipcars. A company has found a way to profit from giving people an opportunity to use a car only when they need it, based on hourly rate, gas, insurance included. I don’t know how long it will last or if it will survive but it is a different way of operating.
