Success means many things to people. For a lot of people they would define success by the money they make. For others, they may define success by the number of people they help. For as many people there are there are probably as many definitions of success.
So let’s take a minute and define success…
The best definition that I have found for success was penned by Earl Nightingale and it goes like this –
“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.”
This takes about anything that has to do with money out of the equation. With that definition it can work with any thing that is important to us.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the value we provide and I am going to use the Law of Compensation for this example, but it can apply to any means of compensation, ie. monetarily, emotionally, spiritually or any other way that will make you personally happy.
#1 The need for what we do – Is there something that you do that many people need? Is there a market for what you do that others are willing to accept or pay for?
#2 Our ability to do it – Are you the best at what you do? Do others look to you as an example of what you do? Do others seek you out for the service that you render?
#3 The Difficulty there is in replacing us – Are they going to have a very difficult time of replacing you? If there are 1000 applications for this situation, probably not. Are you constantly updating your skills to stay a head of the curve?
The value you provide not matter what situation you find yourself is extremely important not just in the job but as a friend, husband, wife, father, mother, son or daughter.
We want to be that person that others welcome with open arms no matter where we go. This is true value!!

You must be good at what you are doing. That is just the first step. You can't expect referrals to flow if you are not provided the best in service and expertise.
