Success and Grinding it out!

Successful living is one of those things that requires you stay the course most of the time. A lot of the time this requires doing mundane things on a repeated basis until you have reached your desire.

Now this doesn’t sound too exciting does it… NOOOOOOO!!!

But there are things that you can do to keep yourself entrenched and focused on the path to getting what you desire and making sure you do what you need to do.

Here we go:

1. Give yourself enough reasons to stay the course – My mentor, Jim Rohn, says “The promise of future is an awesome power.” When your reasons for hitting your goals and objectives are powerful, you’ll stay the course no matter how difficult it is.

The key here is to give yourself some very powerful reasons to stay on course. And continually remind yourself of the rewards waiting for your disciplined efforts.

Some questions to ask yourself are…

How will I benefit from accomplishing this goal?

How will this effect the people I love?

What else will this help me with?

2. Growing in one area will help you grow in all areas – When you have a balanced goals program, when you grow in one area it helps you in all areas. You draw on the power of one goal to help you stay the course on another goal.

This is very powerful! When you practice discipline in one area it effects the other areas.

Success builds on success.

3. Setup a support network – Get a trusted friend to hold your feet to the fire. Setup with a friend who cares about you a system for them to check your progress. The key here is to not bite their head off if you are not doing what you should be doing. If you do that they won’t want to participate with you on this one for too long. So suck it up and take the constructive criticism.

Staying the course on your goals can be very challenging. I think that is why Jim Rohn named one of his programs, “Challenge to Succeed.”

He also says “If you pick up a football and walk across the goal line is that a touchdown? The answer is no. But when you line up across from the 350 pounders and get the football and get through the line of scrimmage, and then get past the middle linebackers, and then the secondary and then cross the goal line. People will stand up and cheer for you.”

If you are challenged with your yearly goals now, take out your list and find the one that you would benefit the most from its accomplishment and recommit to reach that goal this year and get moving it.
