Is Living a Successful Life Exciting? (Part 1)

Is living a successful life exciting? This is a tricky question. And it has both a yes and no answer.

Living a successful life often requires us to do things that we do not find enjoyable. But the great rewards attained from staying the course of living successfully are quite exciting.

Over the next couple of days, I am going to review the top five areas of successful living and explore, the good, the bad and the ugly of each area.

Today we are going to focus on career and business success. Career and business success is often viewed as grueling and pain staking. I mean after all who wants to get up and go to work everyday… Right?

If you find yourself in the wrong career or business, you can find yourself wasting a lot of time and ending up very frustrated.

You also may be dealing with people who are not quite as positive and forward thinking as yourself and this can also be very frustrating.

Here are some ideas that may help you with your career and business success:

1. When you are exploring ideas about the career you want to choose, try and get yourself in a position that fully utilizes your strengths. If you get a chance, go to http://www.kolbe.com and take the test available at this site. It will help you find what your natural strengths are and will help you narrow the fields that will better utilize your strengths.

When you are working in a field that utilizes your strengths, you will end up finding it more rewarding and fulfilling.

2. Get yourself into a company that is forward thinking and rewards you for using your strengths. And also work for a company that is big into training.

A company does not have the responsibility to employ you for life, but the should provide you with the training that will help you maintain employability, even if it is not with that company.

If you look at the companies that are facing struggles now, you will find that they are companies that got locked into thinking that the way the were doing things was the best. You need to be continually looking at what you are doing and look for ways to provide better and faster service.

3. Start a home business. This will provide you the opportunity to make a profit. As my mentor, Jim Rohn, would say, “Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living but profits will make you a fortune.”

This will also provide you to expand you learning about running a business.

  2. I had a ping back from a reader today, who posed some interesting questions concerning the post I left earlier today, and it questioned whether doing things that were not enjoyable would be considered a life of successful living. I thought it was a great point and a great question.

First, let me clarify what I mean by not enjoyable. I try to make it point to get up and go to the gym everyday, to maintain my level of health. Most days, I find it very enjoyable to do but there are days when I would much rather lay in bed then get up and go to the gym. Those days I do not find going to the gym enjoyable. But most of the time when I get there, I find it very enjoyable.

Thank you for the ping back and the comments.
